Here at Harris Tweed Isle of Harris, we take great care in sending your order directly from the Isle of Harris, Scotland. We ship worldwide using Royal Mail and Parcelforce, trusted providers that allow us to deliver safely and reliably.

UK Deliveries

  • Royal Mail Tracked 24 (under 5kg):
Orders up to 5kg are sent via Royal Mail Tracked 24, which usually arrives 2 working days after dispatch. Please allow an additional 1–2 days for collection from the island before your parcel enters the Royal Mail network.

  • Parcelforce 48 (over 5kg):
Orders over 5kg are sent via Parcelforce 48, a fully tracked service with delivery in 3 working days from dispatch (again, please allow an extra 1–2 days for collection from the island).

  • You will receive a tracking link so you can follow your parcel’s journey.

Please Note: All delivery times are estimates and can take longer due to the remote island location. Should your parcel take longer or stop providing tracking updates, please contact us with your order number and we will have this checked for you.

Customs, Duties & Taxes

  • All orders places for delivery outside the UK will not include VAT
  • For all deliveries outside the UK (Except USA) currently ship on a DDU (Delivered Duty Unpaid) basis. This means:
    - Any import duties, VAT, or handling fees are payable by the customer on arrival.
    - These charges vary from country to country.
    - If you are unsure of potential charges in your country, we recommend checking with your local customs office before ordering.

Please note: Should you refuse the customs charge after your order has shipped, we cannot be held liable for the initial shipping costs when providing a refund. Should you wish to have the order re-shipped, we would require an additional shipping payment.

Customs, Duties & Taxes (USA)

  • The U.S. introduced a universal tariff on imports, effective April 5, 2025, under the IEEPA authority.
  • Additional country-specific reciprocal tariffs were reintroduced on August 7 2025, including a 10% rate for UK-origin goods.

De Minimis Exemption Removal

  • The longstanding exemption that exempted parcels valued under $800 from duties has been eliminated, with all shipments now subject to tariffs, regardless of value.

Tariff Rates

  • While a general 10% baseline tariff applies to all UK origin imports: textiles and apparel—including woven wool fabrics—are particularly impacted by additional duty surcharges, with total effective rates for fashion items rising significantly, possibly up to 30%.

What does this mean?

  • Unlike other countries outside the UK, USA orders will include a 20% Tariff charge at checkout, even if the order value is under the $800 “De Minimis Exemption” value.
  • Orders shipped to USA will be sent DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) basis. Meaning there will be no additional charges from customs after checkout, resulting in fewer delays with customs.
